Vote Mahmoud Mourra for Ward 10

A Strong Voice for a Forgotten Ward - Just as Alberta is neglected by Ottawa, northeast Calgary is ignored by City Hall.

Safety and Security

Our community faces serious safety challenges that demand immediate action:

  • City streets have turned into racing tracks
  • Parks and vacant areas are filled with homeless encampments after being pushed out of downtown
  • A lack of consistent police presence
  • Rising gang activity, street racing, property vandalism, and trespassing

I will fight for real safety measures and crime prevention to protect our youth and families.

Roads and Parks

Our infrastructure has been neglected for too long:

  • Winter roads like hockey rinks
  • Summer roads like off-road trails
  • Sidewalks like mountain trails all year round
  • No local parks, outdoor pools, or splash parks

I will repair and upgrade roads and sidewalks—not just during election years—and build a large public park like Confederation or Stanley Park right here in Ward 10.

Services and Facilities

Ward 10 lacks basic services that other areas take for granted:

  • No post-secondary or major educational facilities, unlike other areas
  • No cultural events or festivals hosted in our ward
  • Sky-high property taxes and insurance, with no reinvestment in our community
  • No major medical centre nearby—other than Peter Lougheed Hospital, which is always overloaded

I will attract festivals, cultural events, and family recreation to our community while demanding transparency at City Hall.

Addressing Homelessness with Compassion

Homelessness is not solved by pushing people from one street corner to another. We need real solutions:

  • Build dedicated facilities and transitional housing within Ward 10—not just downtown
  • Provide mental health and addiction support services in our community
  • Stop the cycle of moving homeless individuals around the city without addressing root causes

Our homeless neighbors deserve better than living beside houses and on our streets. They deserve real help and real solutions.

Caring for Our Seniors

Our elders built this community, and they deserve to age with dignity and support:

  • Expand senior-friendly transportation options and accessible transit
  • Build more senior centers and programs right here in Ward 10
  • Ensure snow removal prioritizes senior housing and walkways
  • Create intergenerational programs that connect seniors with youth
  • Fight for affordable senior housing options in our neighborhoods

Our seniors deserve the respect and support they've earned through decades of contribution to our community.

Supporting People with special needs

Accessibility isn't optional—it's a right. Ward 10 must be inclusive for everyone:

  • Ensure all public spaces, parks, and facilities are fully accessible
  • Build wider sidewalks and proper curb cuts throughout the ward
  • Create specialized programs and support services for families with special needs
  • Advocate for accessible and affordable housing options
  • Ensure public transportation is truly accessible for all residents
  • Support employment programs for people with disabilities

A strong community takes care of everyone—from our most vulnerable to our most advance individuals.

Programs and Youth Support

Our children and families face increasing challenges:

  • Our kids face increasing exposure to drugs and crime
  • Families with special needs are left without proper infrastructure or support
  • Yearly hailstorms cause massive damage, but no prevention or relief plans exist
  • Insurance rates keep rising, while our neighbourhood is ignored

I will create spaces for families, seniors, and residents with special needs in every neighbourhood.

Transparency and Accountability

For over 25 years, we've seen the same cycle repeat:

  • Construction ramps up only before election years
  • Career politicians collect their paycheques, while residents are left behind
  • Taxpayers are burdened while bureaucracy keeps growing
  • Photo-op clean-ups instead of real solutions

I will demand full transparency and accountability at City Hall and fight waste, corruption, and career politics.

🗳️ My Promise to Ward 10

I'm Mahmoud Mourra, and I've lived in Ward 10 for more than 25 years. This is my home. I know the struggles because I've lived them, too.

That's why I'm running—to fight for your voice and deliver the change we deserve.

Let's bring real leadership back to our community. Let's demand the respect, safety, and services we deserve.

My Story

Mahmoud Mourra

From Father to Fighter

Hello, my name is Mahmoud Mourra, and I'm a proud father of five. I've proudly raised my children in Ward 10.

My eldest son, now 23, was recently married—and during that experience, I saw firsthand just how difficult it is for young Calgarians to build a life in this city. I still have two young sons and two daughters at home. They are everything to me, and I'll always do whatever it takes to protect them, support them, and help build a better future for them.

Like any parent in Calgary, I want what's best for my children: safe and affordable homes, strong schools, vibrant welcoming neighborhoods. But most importantly, I want them to live in a city where they can grow, thrive, and help shape the future of our communities.

Why I'm Running

I've lived in Calgary for 25 years. In that time, I've seen politicians come and go—each promising change, yet very little ever improves. We hear the same speeches year after year, but we don't see results. And worst of all, there's little transparency or accountability in our local government.

Nowhere is this more obvious than in the northeast—especially here in Ward 10, which includes Abbeydale, Coral Springs, Marlborough, Marlborough Park, Mayland Heights, Monterey Park, Pineridge, Rundle, Temple, Vista Heights, and Whitehorn.

Our communities have been overlooked for far too long. Despite being home to many of Calgary's hardest-working residents—especially in construction and labour—we lack the same resources, services, and investment that other areas receive.

We face:

  • A leisure centre that can't meet the needs of our population
  • Limited youth spaces and public amenities
  • Some of the highest crime rates in the city
  • Underfunded parks and playgrounds

And still, we pay our taxes, show up to work, and raise our families with dignity.

We Deserve Better

That's why I'm running to represent Ward 10—to be your voice and to ask the hard questions: Why doesn't the northeast have any major educational institutions like other areas? Why are no major city festivals hosted in our neighborhoods? Why are our parks and public spaces so often neglected?

The truth is simple: if we don't speak up, we won't be heard.

A Voice for Families

As a father, I'm doing this for my kids—and for yours. I will fight for Ward 10 families because I am one of you.

Vote Mahmoud Mourra, your candidate for Ward 10. A fighter who will fight your fight.

Art Hanger
Mahmoud says: "I am honored to have the support of former Calgary Northeast MP, Art Hanger. Art represented many of the same communities in Ward 10 for over 15 years, standing strong for family values, safety, and fiscal responsibility. His support means a lot, and I am committed to carrying forward that same spirit of service for our neighborhoods at the city level. Together, we will make Ward 10 stronger, safer, and united."
